STUDENT PICNIC THIS AFTERNOON AT URBAN PARK

July 12, 2009

The annual Students' Association student and mentor picnic is from noon to 3 this afternoon at Urban Park. Free food, drinks, and other events, including informational booths from the Laboratory and Los Alamos County are fixtures of the event.

Due to the large number of students and mentors who attend, parking can become an issue for residents who live near Urban Park. "We have had requests from those living in the area to not park in the parking spots to the east of Urban Park. There are elderly people who live in those buildings and they can't access their homes if their parking is taken. Since they don't work, they need their spaces throughout the day, especially during the daytime," said Carole Rutten of the Education and Postdoc Programs Office (STBPO-EPDO).

Laboratory information booths include the Wellness Center, Human Resources (HR), Security Division (SEC-S1S2), Ombuds, Student Programs Advisory Committee, the Research Library (STBPO-RL), and the Lujan Center.

The University of New Mexico, Los Alamos, Los Alamos Family YMCA, Mesa Public Library, Los Alamos County Recreation Department, and the Los Alamos Fire Department also have information booths at the picnic.

Urban Park is located on Urban Road off Diamond Drive.

This game is set in the modern present day but may (depending on player actions) involve elements of fantasy and science fiction. Hopefully relationships, love and ethics will be as or more important than any special abilities you may or may not acquire.

This is intended as the first episode in an episodic, serial campaign. The games will be self-standing but will share continuity going forward. If all goes well, I plan to run this game at ACUS and ACNW at a minimum.
