Please indulge me for a moment while I wander around in an old memory... We were at GenCon, the year that the original Amber rulebook was released. Erick was running a huge game to introduce Amber Diceless to the world. It was a long day and my voice was raspy and tired from doing my version of Dworkin for 15 or so separate subgames and then again in the big finale scene where all the players were gathered. The session was a huge success and Erick was very pleased. When the day was over and we were back at our hotel room, and it was very late, there came a knock at the door. I distinctly remember that it was after midnight. Erick was standing at the door with a big grin on his bearded face, and his eyes were beaming. He wanted to play... No, he wanted to GM. And he did, until we could see the sun coming up the next morning. It was the best game I had ever played in. It was a simple game in concept, but it was about the role-playing experience that made this night a memory that I cherish fondly. This game is a tribute to the man that opened my eyes to a whole new world of possibilities. I want to share that experience with you. I want to hear your memories of the man as well. Join me for a ride in a little red wagon.
